Superb well designed movement Calibre 8T23A stamped Seiko 15J. Japan showing capacitor, x2 small power generation coils and stepper motor..Absolute genuis! The watch is fully working and keeping accurate time after winding to Full-Charge.
Very rare timepiece down in the history books as the first hand wound quartz watch. This special movement was only produced for approx. 1yr then the technology was later developed by Seiko to A.G.S.(Automatic Generating System) and then Kinetic as we know it today.
The watch is in excellent well preserved condition all round. This is no doubt a Holy Grail of great importance to both Seiko enthusiasts & collectors alike...you'll love it!
1986: “ Seiko introduces world’s first analogue quartz watch without battery (calibre 8T23) , which obtains its enery from a microgenerator driven with a winding knob. To supply the supercapacitor with enough energy for 3 days, several minutes of winding by hand are required.”
